Walt Peterson

 Fine Artist

Aware of a special gift at an early age, Walt Peterson explored the world of art since early childhood. Born in St Petersburg, and growing up in Florida, he attended Florida State University, majoring in fine art and graphic design.

He began his professional career as a portrait painter in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993. Walter Peterson

Over the last 14 years he has painted over 300 portraits throughout the southeast of family and corporate clients, while also creating his own studio works.

In 2007 it was time for a change and new subject matter and he headed back to South Florida to explore different possibilities outside of portraiture and to be closer to his family.

Fond of the water and always having fished while growing up marine art had always been an attraction but an area he had never really explored.  A believer in catch and release Walt had often thought that particular moment properly captured on film could make a great painting. Well years later and now in the world of digital imagery he came across Pat Ford's website and saw some awesome shots masterfully executed. That was the catalyst that brought the brush to the canvas once again, and Walt is pursuing his art now with more passion than ever!

As he now enters a new period in his painting career, his primary focus will be marine fine art, both above and below surface.

A perfectionist at heart, he takes his paintings to a high level of refinement, bringing life to the canvas and sharing with the viewer a very compelling artistic experience. With his ability to paint the human figure as well, Walt will focus part of his energy on "The Fish and the Angler"  an area not very often captured on canvas. However these images will be unique and cutting edge with a new flair and perspective.
